Revit Architecture is a powerful Building Information Modeling (BIM) program that works the way Architects think. From Conceptual Design to BIM Management, the program streamlines the design process with a central 3D model. Changes made in one view update across all views and on the printable sheets. The name “Revit” implies this ease of revision that is at the heart of the software.
Since building projects themselves tend to be extremely complex, Revit Architecture is a necessarily a complex program. The objective of the Revit Architecture 2010 Advanced course is to enable students who have worked with Revit to expand their knowledge in the areas of Conceptual Design (massing studies, space planning, visualization, and rendering) and BIM Management (setting up Revit and creating custom families).
Topics include:
Conceptual Design
• Create In-Place Conceptual Mass elements and Conceptual Mass families
• Create building elements from massing studies
• Use Rooms and Areas for space planning and analysis
• Create perspectives, walkthroughs, and solar studies
• Understand the concepts of rendering and lighting
BIM Management
• Create custom templates with annotation style, titleblocks, and custom element styles
• Create custom wall, roof, and floor types
• Set up a family files
• Create family geometry
• Create family types
• Create specific families including custom doors and windows, in-place families, profiles, railings and shared parameters
Prerequisites: Students who enroll in this course should be comfortable with the fundamentals of Revit as taught in the Revit Architecture 2010 Fundamentals class as well as a working knowledge of the Revit Architecture 2010 Intermediate tools. Knowledge of basic techniques is assumed, such as creating walls, roofs, and other objects; copying and moving objects; creating and working with views; etc
